Zach and Julie Ertz Announce 2024 Community Initiatives with the Ertz Family Foundation

Led by Making a $100,000 Donation to the House of Hope in North Philadelphia as well as Hosting the Safeway Feast of Sharing Event on November 27, 2024 in Washington D.C.  Which Aims to Provide 5,000 Vulnerable DC Residents with Meals and Coats.

Philadelphia, PA, September 6, 2024—NFL Super Bowl Champion Zach Ertz and U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team World Cup Champion Julie Ertz are proud to announce their 2024 community initiatives through the Ertz Family Foundation. Kicking off with teaming up with Safeway to host the annual Safeway Feast of Sharing Event on November 27, 2024. Additionally, the couple announced a $100,000 donation to the House of Hope in North Philadelphia, the couple continues their commitment to uplifting communities and empowering individuals. The Foundation will also be partnering with Mt. Joy and Acme for a perishable food drive on September 20th, 2024, in Philadelphia and will be hosting its Fourth Annual Winter Giving Event in Philadelphia.

As Zach begins his 12th NFL season—his first with the Washington Commanders—he and Julie are excited to expand their philanthropic efforts into the Washington, D.C., area while maintaining strong ties to Philadelphia.

Key Initiatives Include in Sequential Order:

  • $100,000 Donation to the House of Hope: This substantial contribution will support ongoing programs, ensuring the community center remains a beacon of hope for underserved families in Hunting Park.
  • Perishable Food Drive with Mt. Joy and Acme: In partnership with indie rock band Mt. Joy and Acme Markets, a perishable food drive will take place during Mt. Joy’s concert on September 20, 2024, at the Mann Center in Philadelphia. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to benefit the community kitchen at the House of Hope.
  • Host of the Safeway Feast of Sharing Event in Washington D.C.: As new members of the DC Community, the Foundation is committed to making a positive impact and is excited to announce this initiative led by Zach and Julie and Safeway. The event, in collaboration with Safeway and Operation Warm, aims to provide meals and coats to 5,000 vulnerable DC residents and the goal is to raise $150,000 to support this.
  • Fourth Annual Winter Giving Event in Philadelphia: Committed to providing winter essentials to vulnerable Philadelphia residents, the Foundation is proud to host the event for the fourth consecutive year to provide winter coats, hats and gloves to those in need in the Philadelphia community, in December 2024.

“From the beginning, Julie and I have been dedicated to making a positive impact on as may communities as possible through our non-profit, the Ertz Family Foundation.  We are delighted to begin the DMV area, playing for the Commanders, and supporting the community through the “Safeway Feast of Sharing” event this year,” said Zach Ertz.

“Zach and I are so passionate about our work in Philadelphia, and to see the progress that started with a concept with the House of Hope to now the opening and serving the community—we’re now focused on keeping the lights on and the kitchen full. To be able to partner with Mt. Joy, one of our favorite bands, and to have our amazing partners at Acme match the donations, it’s just so special,” added Julie Ertz.
