The Ertz Foundation was honored to be part of Dylan Steinberg’s Bat Mitzvah Project and participate in Kicks for Kensington!
Dylan Steinberg’s Bat Mitzvah is November 28, 2020. A Bar Mitzvah (boy) and Bat Mitzvah (girl) are the most important events in the life of young Jewish children. It is when they are viewed as an adult within the religion and are accountable for their own actions.
An important tradition as part of a Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a Mitzvah, or Service, project. We at the Ertz Family Foundation are honored that Dylan has decided to partner with us for her Bat Mitzvah project – Kicks for Kensington. Zach and Julie have made it part of their mission to help the underserved children in the community of Kensington and Dylan has joined the effort to make the lives of these kids a little better.
Dylan is collecting gently soccer cleats and balls and together, we are donating them to different youth organizations in Kensington. Many of these children have not been exposed to this wonderful game, yet don’t have the basic equipment to enjoy the game. Through Kicks for Kensington, Dylan and the Ertz Family Foundation hope to provide as many kids as possible with the basic soccer equipment so they can learn to enjoy this wonderful game that has given Julie and Dylan so much.
Dylan recently partnered with her soccer club, Penn Fusion SA, as part of a US Soccer Foundation Passback Drive and collected over 500 pairs of cleats and 300 soccer balls. Passback™ is a United States Soccer Foundation program through which donations of gently used or new soccer gear are collected and then distributed to underserved communities where children have a love for soccer but lack the resources to play.
Dylan is going to continue collecting through 2021, and beyond, as there are so many kids in the community who need equipment just so they can play outside, get some exercise and enjoy this game.
