Nearly 200 guests were treated to dinner, and party to a silent auction that featured items signed by Zach and Julie, their respective teammates, and friends from around the sports world. The event was sponsored by Hilton Doubletree’s Pleasanton at the Club, Sophos Capital Management, Mercy Putney Financial Advisors, Starting Lineup School & Sports Attire and AXR Napa Valley.
Through the funds raised on that initial night, the Ertz Family Foundation has already begun to make a huge difference, raising more than $200,000 that will be donated to College is Real and Mission of Hope, impacting lives in Richmond, Calif. and Haiti.
“Our first event was such a special night for us,” said Julie. “It was a night full of love and people who wanted to help make this world a better place. To raise that amount in one night makes us so excited to see how big we can grow this family to help those in need. The Bay Area has and will always have a special place in our hearts.”
Julie was unable to attend the launch event due to a training commitment, but Zach was on hand and was joined by many of his NFL peers, including a large contingent from his college alma mater, Stanford University.
“I was truly overwhelmed by the support of our community at the launch event in CA in July,” Zach said. “Being able to look out and see family and close friends support our mission made the night so memorable for us. I was blown away by the money we were able to raise with so much support! We are so excited to be able to use our platform to make change in so many lives in Haiti, the Bay Area, and Philadelphia. Such good things ahead.”
After their successful Bay Area kickoff event, Zach and Julie are already looking forward to their next event, which will take place in Philadelphia on November 29th. The Ertz Family Foundation is also planning a return to the Bay Area for another event next fall. “Our work is just getting started! We can’t wait to see how big we can grow this family and how much good we can do for our neighbors around the world. We live by our faith and are more committed than ever to live out the message in Matthew 22:39: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
